Coffee was first discovered in the highland of Ethiopia, and was first consumed in the 9th century. From Africa it is spread all over the world, and today this black beverage is one of the most popular drink around. For many people a cup of coffee is their first drink, after getting out of bed from a good night sleep. Because of the undiminishing demand for better coffee, brewing high quality coffee has become a big global business.

Starbucks Coffee opened its first cafe in Seattle, USA in the early 80s, and today it has become almost ubiquitous, Starbucks Coffee can be found at every major cities in the world. In 2008 Starbucks Coffee opened it’s 100th outlet In Malaysia, what a mile stone, and in Kota Kinabalu along there are five Starbucks Coffee outlets. KK Lites need not go far to have a good caffeine fixed.

Donuts fever has finally hit our shore, with Big Apple Donuts & Coffee having open 3 outlets in Kota Kinabalu City, there are a lot of donuts to go around. The donuts are baked fresh every hours or so to ensure customers have a fresh supply of crunchy and tasty donuts. These donuts also come with a variety of different mouth water toppings, ranging from name like Hot Berry, Duren Duren and Kiwi Blitz, just to name a few.

Big Apple Donuts & Coffee is the a good place to have a coffee break or the occasion mumbling with friends. There are so many different type of donuts on sell, that customers need to come here a few time in order to try out all the donuts on display. Some of the must try ones, are Mango Tango, 101 Dalmations and California Almond. The donut is price at RM 2.30 each, for half a dozen the price is RM 12 and a dozen at RM 22.

Kedai Kopi Jeong Hin

Jeong Hin Kopitiam is a great place to have buns and “pau”, especially during tea break. Whether is it because of the British influence from the colonial time, or is it because people nowadays like to have tea. KK Lites are very fond of their tea break. Kopitiams that serve simple food like buns, pau and other nibbling food are very much in demand around 3pm to 5pm.

For decades Jeong Hin Kopitiam is well known for its buns. The buns here are very sought-after and every day they are sold out, either eat in or take away. One of the secrets for these ever popular buns, is their freshness, they are freshly baked and served hot. Buns are available for sale starting from 11am and by 4pm most of them are gone.
