Tunku Abdul Rahman Park

There are many islands to explore and relax around Kota Kinabalu. The easiest of them all to visit is Taman Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, which is located just off Kota Kinabalu. Taman Tunku Abdul Rahman Park consists of Pulau Manukan, Pulau Sapi, Pulau Mamutik, and Pulau Sulug, and part of Pulau Gaya. Pulau is island in Malay language. Ferry ride to the islands can be located in three places, Jesselton Point, Sutera Harbour Hotel, and Tanjung Aru Beach Hotel. The ride to the islands takes about 10 to 20 minutes depending on the departure point. These islands are perfect for day trips as there are so near to the city, snorkeling, beach, suntan, jet ski, scuba diving, Banana boats, lot of activities are on offered here.

Pulau Gaya

Gaya Island is the biggest of the lot, and Police Bay facing South China Sea has one of the most beautiful beaches in this park.

Pulau Manukan

Manukan Island is the most visit island, and Sutera Sanctuary Lodge has splendid accommodations for those who wish to stay over night here.

Pulau Sapi

Sapi Island although small in size, it is also very popular with the tourists. Check out the special corals here, and at low tide one can walk across the sea bed to Gaya Island.

Pulau Mamutik

Mamutik Island has beautiful white sandy beaches and there facilities here for scuba diving and scuba diving beginner courses conduct by Borneo Diver.

Pulau Sulug

The least visit island of Tunku Abdul Rahman Park. Yet the beaches are stunningly beautiful and the surround water is great for diving.

 

Pulau Tiga

Pulau Tiga comes to fame for the rest of the world, because it is the island that feature in the reality show, called The Survival series. Pulau Tiga is an volcanic island, and there is mud pool where one can bath in volcanic mud. One can also explore the snake island next door.

Pulau Mantanani

Mantanani Islands are a grouping of three islands located northwest of Kota Belud, and approximately 80km away from Kota Kinablu. Great for snorkelling and scuba diving, it is also less visited compare with the other islands in Sabah. An ideal tropical island with miles of white sandy beaches to lazy away.
